CHALLENGE

Despite the progress in tech leadership and innovation, women remained underrepresented in tech leadership, AI innovation, and the broader women developer community. It required expansion in participation, and Microsoft decided to accomplish it.

STRATEGY / BIG IDEA

As a Microsoft Azure partner in India, we decided to leverage International Women’s Day as a catalyst through Code Without Barriers (CWB) Simulive, a multi-region developer community activation initiative. The event encouraged the Women Developer community to share their journeys, showcase innovation, explore AI pathways, and connect with mentors, partners, and ecosystem leaders.

EXECUTION

As a platform expansion consultant, the team decided to roll out the initiative in different regions, including ANZ, India, and Japan. The program consisted of the following events:   • Fireside chats with women leaders across cloud, AI, and education. • Lightning talks from emerging voices in the women in AI programs. • Impact showcases of innovation across the Azure ecosystem.  The program had interactive polls, structured debriefs, and live testimonials that transformed passive viewership into active participation. Also, strategic partnerships with Accenture, FOSSASIA, and global open-source communities amplified credibility and reach within the women in tech programs in India and across the world.

OUTCOME

The program celebrated the journeys of women in AI programs and technology, and the platform expansion strategy aligned with a 30% diversity benchmark in STEM participation. As a Microsoft Azure partner in India, the strategy helped strengthen Microsoft’s position as not just a tech leader but a champion of inclusivity and representation.
